1x5 Series HoistCam - Changing the Channel Mode

The following should only be performed by a certified HoistCam technician or under the direct supervision of a HoistCam certified technician. Doing so without authorization may invalidate any warranties.

Issue:

In some environments, the signal may need to be adjusted to accommodate noisier environments. Symptoms may include random fluctuation of the receiving signal or interference.

Solution:

Step #1 - Before doing steps outlined in Step #2, please make sure that:
  1. The antennas are properly installed
  2. The antennas are properly connected
  3. The antennas are properly orientated
  4. There is a signal strength of two bars or more
  5. The antennas are pointed toward each individual HoistCam
  6. The antennas are not pointed at more than one of the same HoistCam systems.
  7. If more than one HoistCam system is within proximity to each other, make sure they are at least 30ft / 10m or more separated from each other.
Step #2 - Changing the DIP Switch Channel Mode

Warning: Do not change the modes of the dip switches while the unit is powered on. Both the VRB (video receiver box) and the VTB (video transmission box) must be turned off when changing these dip switches. Not doing so may damage the equipment.

The follow should only be performed by a certified HoistCam technician or under the direct supervision of a HoistCam certified technician. Doing so without authorization may invalidate any warranties.


After opening the VRB with a screw driver and the VTB on the HoistCam, the transmitter and receiver board both need to have their dip switches set to the same mode. Both the transmitter and the receiver have to have identical modes for their dip switches to function properly.

The following pictures show the four different modes for the transmitter and receiver to operate on different channels.

Mode 1:
Dip Switch #1: DOWN
Dip Switch #2: DOWN

Mode 2:
Dip Switch #1: UP

Mode 3:
Dip Switch #1: UP

Final Steps
After changing the modes, make sure to cycle the power on the VRB and VTB to test prior to screwing the plate on the VTB and the cover on the VRB. To complete the installation and to ensure that the dip switches do not accidentally change their modes, make sure to use 3M hot melt to ensure that the dip switch remain in the chosen position.
